Medical Gas Refresher Course for 6010 and 6020 – 4 Hour Course (4 HR CEUS)
The Florida State Fire Marshall will be adopting the NFPA 99 2018 Edition of the Medical Gas and Vacuum Systems Manual on December 31, 2020. All installers and inspectors are required by the ASSE to take a 4-hour course on the changes in the code. There are many important code changes that will apply to the way you are presently installing and inspecting medical gas systems. Inspectors in Florida and throughout the country will be checking to ensure your medical gas card has been updated to the new NFPA 99 standard. This class will be offered in person or we now have an online self-paced option for completing this training as well. This course also qualifies for 4 hours of continuing education in the State of Florida.
Medical Gas Installer 6010 – 32 Hour Course (32 HR CEUS)
Medical Gas Certification is a requirement in Florida and in most of the United States. Plumbing companies in Florida that install, and repair, these life safety systems and equipment must be certified by an approved training agency that is certified by the Florida Construction Industry Licensing Board.
The certified medical gas installers shall maintain their certification by showing proof of brazing performance every 6 months. Students will learn the NFPA 99 Gas and Vacuum Systems code following the ASSE 6010 Standard. Students will also learn brazing skills using oxygen, acetylene torches with rosebud tips while purging the system with Nitrogen. Learning correct brazing skills is one of the most important aspects of installing medical gas and vacuum systems. We have been conducting Medical Gas courses in Florida since 1995 and received CILB approval in 2000 when it became law in Florida.

ASSE 6010 Medical Gas Systems Installer Class – Also taught in Spanish. (32 HR CEUS)
FMG has a Spanish-speaking instructor on staff to help those who speak Spanish as a first language. The NFPA 99 is not available in Spanish and English reading comprehension is a requirement. Our typical class schedule is not set up as Spanish speaking unless specified. Please call for details.
Medical Gas Inspector 6020 – 24 Hour Course (24 HR CEUS)
This standard applies to any individual who inspects the installation of medical gas and vacuum distribution systems. Medical gas systems and equipment covered in this standard include health care facilities within the scope of NFPA 99, Health Care Facilities Code. Medical gas systems include vacuum systems.
Medical Gas Maintenance Personnel 6040 – 24 Hour Course (24 HR CEUS)
This standard applies to any individual who maintains medical gas and vacuum systems. Healthcare facility personnel installing medical gas or vacuum systems shall be certified to ASSE Standard 6010. Medical gas systems include vacuum systems.
